SLM GP General Adult Membership
The SLM GP Adult Membership gives adults in Liverpool and Merseyside straightforward, regular access to a private GP for a fixed monthly fee. For £65 a month you get two GP appointments every month, a health check when you join and every year after, prescriptions and routine paperwork.
What is the SLM GP Adult Membership?
It is a monthly private GP membership for anyone aged 18 or over. Rather than paying for each appointment separately, you pay one predictable fee and have an established route to a GP whenever something comes up.
• £65 per calendar month
• No joining fee
• No minimum term: cancel with one calendar month's written notice
Your membership is personal to you, so it can't be shared with or used by anyone else.
What's included in your private GP membership?
A health check when you join, then every year
Your membership starts with an onboarding appointment and basic health check, in addition to your monthly appointments. A GP reviews your medical history, medicines and allergies, carries out a routine examination and checks your blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels, height and weight. You'll also talk about your general health and any goals you'd like support with. We invite you back for a health check every year.
Two GP appointments every month
You can book two 15-minute GP appointments each calendar month. If you need more, extra appointments cost a reduced member rate of £40 each.
Prescriptions and repeat medication
Acute and repeat medication requests are included, with no fixed limit on how many you can make. Every request is reviewed by a GP and prescribed where it is clinically appropriate. The cost of the medicine itself, and any pharmacy charges, are paid separately.
Fit notes, letters and referrals
Routine paperwork is included: sick notes and fit notes, routine medical letters, referral letters and straightforward forms. This saves the separate fees many private clinics charge for admin.
Face-to-face or remote GP appointments
Your monthly appointments can be in person at our Liverpool city-centre clinic or remote, whichever suits you and the problem. Remote consultations work well for follow-ups and straightforward concerns, without taking time out of your working day. Face-to-face appointments are best when you need examining.
We always take your preference into account. Occasionally your GP may recommend a particular format for clinical reasons, for example asking you to come in so they can examine you properly. We also offer evening and weekend appointments.
Who is a GP membership right for?
Membership tends to suit adults who see a GP more than once or twice a year, or who want to know help is easy to reach. That might include people who:
• work, study, commute or care for others, and struggle to get appointments during standard hours
• take regular medication and want repeat prescriptions handled smoothly
• are managing a long-term condition alongside specialist or NHS care
• value continuity of care from a small practice that gets to know them
If you only need a doctor occasionally, a one-off private appointment may be better value. We're happy to help you work out which makes more sense.
What isn't included
We believe in clear pricing, so here's what costs extra:
• blood tests and other laboratory tests
• scans and imaging
• specialist consultations and hospital treatment
• complex forms, eg detailed insurance reports
How your membership works day to day
• Your two monthly appointments don't roll over, so unused ones expire at the end of the month.
• Changing plans: give us at least 12 hours' notice to cancel or move an appointment. Later cancellations and missed appointments normally count as one of your monthly appointments, though we'll always consider genuine emergencies or sudden illness.
• If we cancel: we'll offer you another appointment as soon as we can, and it won't count against your allowance.
• Leaving: you can cancel at any time with one calendar month's written notice, for example by email.
• Coming back: you're welcome to rejoin later, with no joining fee.
Getting the most from your appointments
A little preparation makes 15 minutes go a long way. Before your appointment, jot down your symptoms, when they started and what makes them better or worse, along with any medicines or supplements you take. Bring any test results or letters from other clinicians, or ask us how to share them securely.
Tell your GP what you'd like from the appointment, whether that's reassurance, treatment, a second opinion or a plan. Mention it if a problem is affecting your work, sleep, exercise or mood, because those details shape the right plan.
Membership works best when you use it for more than urgent moments. Your annual health check and regular appointments are a chance to review medication, talk about prevention and make realistic lifestyle changes before small issues become bigger ones.
